The Asian Association for Lexicography (ASIALEX) was established at the conference Dictionaries in Asia:

Research and Pedagogical Implications, held at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on

27-29 March 1997. Its aim is to foster scholarly and professional activities in the field of lexicography

by facilitating the exchange of information and ideas through meetings, publications and other means.

From 2016, ASIALEX has held its international conferences annually.

ASIALEX 2027 will be held at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
