9th International Dental Physiology Quiz (IDPQ)

The International Dental Physiology Quiz (IDPQ), now in its ninth edition, is an academic initiative organized by the Universiti Malaya Dental Society (DENSOC). This distinguished competition is designed for undergraduate dental students with the primary objective of challenging and enriching their knowledge of human physiology, while simultaneously fostering a deeper appreciation of its relevance to the field of Dental Sciences.

Conducted in a physical format, the IDPQ welcomes participation from both regional and international universities. The competition emphasizes experiential learning, enabling students to integrate theoretical concepts of human physiology with their foundational understanding of dentistry. Key thematic areas include, among others, hemostasis, nociception, mastication, salivary physiology, cardiopulmonary function, immunology, calcium regulation, sensory systems, endocrine regulation, systemic pathophysiology, and neurophysiology.

Beyond its academic dimension, the IDPQ also aspires to cultivate meaningful professional networks among dental students globally. It promotes the development of essential soft skills, including leadership, communication, and teamwork, while instilling values of respect and cultural tolerance irrespective of nationality, ethnicity, or religion.

Furthermore, the IDPQ provides a platform for faculty members and physiology educators to share pedagogical expertise and inspire innovative approaches to learning. By incorporating elements of intellectual rigor with a spirit of collaboration, the competition stimulates curiosity, enhances critical thinking, and underscores the central role of physiology in dental education and practice.

The organizing committee is confident that this initiative will bring manifold benefits to participants, faculty, and the academic community at large. It is our hope that the 9th International Dental Physiology Quiz will continue to advance excellence in dental education and receive the enduring support of all stakeholders.
