Born and grown up to a mediocre Chinese family in Melaka, Dato’ Dr Wong Ruen Yuan has always been taught to embrace the value of hardworking, humbleness and gratefulness as his lifelong principles. After finishing STPM, Dr Wong was accepted into University of Malaya (UM) where he graduated with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the year 2000.

Dr Wong first started his career as a Dentist with Dr Chua & Wan Dental Clinic, a neighbourhood setup in the suburb of Kajang. It was with Dr Chua, who is also an alumni of UM, he learnt the importance of community-based clinic to the local public. Not long after that, Dr Wong was offered as an associate dentist with Drs Chai and Partners, a high-end dental clinic in downtown Kuala Lumpur where he was much inspired about providing high quality dental care to patients.

In 2001, after much considerations into his family needs, Dr Wong decided to start his own practice in Sri Petaling, one of the highest populated area in Kuala Lumpur. Integrating both concepts of community and high quality dental care, Dr Wong founded Drs Wong & Partners Dental Surgeons. At the same time, in view of the advanced needs of his patients, Dr Wong continued to pursue his training in Dental Implantology from University of Malaya, University of Frankfurt, University of Berlin and other Implant Institutes in the US, Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

However, Dr Wong envisions more, together with his wife Datin Jean Wong, they started to build dental management team by nurturing non-clinical personnel into systematically taking care of the operations and corporate developments of the clinic. It is with these efforts that Drs Wong & Partners slowly grew and developed into the Smile-Link Dental Group today.

Dr Wong has great mission and vision for his group, which is to setup a complete private dental care system in Malaysia that consists of convenient “neighbourhood” clinics to more complete Dental Centres; and hopefully a Dental Hospital. He felt that it is always important for the private sector to provide a good service to compliment the public clinics, so that the public healthcare system would not be overloaded; and the truly needy patients can get their treatments in time. Today, Dr Wong has extended to nearly 50 Neighbourhood Clinics supported by a large Dental Centre with over 1.1 acre.

Despite the many corporate achievements, Dato’ Dr Wong is still a very down to earth Dentist who devoted most of his time to treat his patients every day. Dr Wong’s philosophy is simple “Dentistry first, money comes later” and he passed this thought down to all the young associates within his group with the hope that, one day, they can realize the group’s motto “We Serve To Make A Difference”, for the patients, for the people and our beloved nation
