Field Trip A: Kuala Lumpur Icons Tour/吉隆坡地标之旅 :
1. National Palace/国家皇宫
Completed in 1928 as the mansion of Chinese entrepreneur Chan Chen Yong, the property encompassed 28 acres. In 1957, it was acquired by the Government of the Federation of Malaya to serve as the National Palace. Upon the completion of the new palace in 2011, the former residence was repurposed as the Royal Museum.
1928年建成,原是华商陈振永豪宅,占地面积28英亩。1957年,马来西亚联邦政府购入作为国家皇宫,2011年新皇宫建成后,改作为皇家博物馆。
2. Batu Caves/黑风洞
This Hindu temple, built 120 years ago within limestone formations dating back 400 million years, is accessed by ascending 272 steps and offers a truly immersive experience of Hindu culture.

4. KLCC/国油双峰塔

Field Trip B: Heritage & City Life Tour/文化与城市生活之旅 :
1. National Monument/国家英雄纪念碑
Built in 1966, the monument commemorates the fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives during Malaysia’s struggle for independence. It was created by Felix de Weldon, the renowned sculptor of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) in Washington, D.C.
建於1966年,纪念在马来西亚争取独立期间,为国捐躯的战亡将士。美国华盛顿「硫磺岛海军陆战队纪念碑」(Iwo Jima)的着名雕塑家维尔登(Felix de Weldon)作品
2. Independence Square/独立广场
Independence Square in Kuala Lumpur, formerly the cricket ground of the Selangor Royal Club, is historically significant as the site where the Malayan flag was first raised on 31 August 1957, marking the nation’s independence. Today, the square stands as a national symbol of sovereignty, framed by surrounding colonial-era landmarks.
吉隆坡的独立广场前身是雪兰莪皇家俱乐部操场。1957年8月31日,马来亚国旗首次升起、象征国家独立而得名。同时,它也是国家历史的象征。在独立广场周围也环绕着殖民时代的历史建筑。
3. River of Life/生命之河
Kuala Lumpur traces its origins to 1857 at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang Rivers, an area that has since been transformed into a cultural and tourism landmark. The surroundings bear rich historical narratives of the city’s early development.

4. Central Market/中央艺术坊

5. Petaling Street/Sin Sze Si Ya Temple /茨厂街 / 仙四师爷庙拓荒博物馆
Several streets that were once thriving centers of early Chinese settlement have evolved into Kuala Lumpur’s bustling street market and food district. Though not the city’s sole area of Chinese community life, it is popularly known as Chinatown. The Sin Sze Si Ya Temple and the Pioneer Museum serve as platforms showcasing the city’s early development and the contributions of the Chinese community

Field Trip C: History & Memory Trail/历史与记忆之旅 :
1. Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery/共和联邦军人墓园
The Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, located in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. It commemorates those who fell during the Pacific Campaign (1941–1945) and the Malayan Emergency (1948–1960). (Why is it referred to as an “Emergency” rather than a war?)
共和联邦军人墓园,位于吉隆坡,蕉赖。1941-1945 太平洋战役,1948-1960年马来亚第一次紧急状态(它为何不称之为战争呢?)。
2. Japanese Cemetery/日本墓园
The Japanese Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur, with a history of over a century, is located along Jalan Dewan Bahasa. It contains the graves of Japanese civilians and soldiers, as well as a memorial monument. Visitor access is limited to guided tours at the old cemetery entrance.
吉隆坡日本墓园,已有百余年的历史,位于Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Kuala Lumpur。日本人,军人坟墓和慰灵碑, 仅限墓园旧大门入口处导览。
3. Kwong Tong Cemetery/吉隆坡广东义山
The Peace Park houses Malaysia’s tallest civilian World War II memorial. 马来亚二战人民蒙难纪念总碑暨和平公园,大马最高民间二战纪念碑。
The Burma Road (Dian Mian Gong Lu) and the Nanyang Volunteers Memorial Cemetery commemorate the Chinese workers from Malaysia who transported military supplies to China along the Burma Road.滇緬公路 (Dian Mian Gong Lu)。南侨机工纪念碑墓园,大马华裔机工往滇緬公路运送中国军事物资。
The epitaph refers to the redemption money of fifty million Straits Dollars (not Japanese “Banana” currency). The inscription, written in Japanese kanji, records the offering of funds (奉纳金) as part of the memorial inscription. 五千万叻币(石叻 = 星嘉坡, 不是香蕉军票) 奉纳金,墓志铭 (“日本漢字”) 。
4. Hokkien Cemetery/吉隆坡福建义山
The Hokkien Cemetery in Kuala Lumpur, located along Jalan Kerayong, is also known as the Kuala Lumpur Hokkien Cemetery. Within its grounds lies a mass grave.
吉隆坡福建义山,位于吉隆坡加机场路(Jalan Kerayong)的福建义山,又称吉隆坡福建义山。园内设有一处集体墓葬。
5. Old Pudu Jail Gate/半山芭监狱大门
The old gate of Pudu Prison, once serving as the main entrance, is a remnant of the former penitentiary where prisoners of war (POWs) as well as Class B and Class C war criminals were once held.
旧半山芭监狱大门,这是半山芭监狱的旧入口,曾关押过战俘(POWs)以及乙级和丙级战犯。
6. Old Japanese Military Comfort Station/旧日本慰安所

7. Institute for Medical Research, Bio Medical Museum/吉隆坡生物医学博物馆
The Kuala Lumpur Biomedical Museum, situated within the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) on Jalan Pahang, preserves and showcases Malaysia’s biomedical heritage. Was this a secret biological and chemical weapons research center of Unit OKA 9420 in Singapore (a subsidiary of Unit 731 in Harbin, Manchuria, China) during the years 1942–1945?
