Professor Ir. Dr. Chan Chee Seng

Specialization: Computer Vision and Machine Learning

Chan Chee Seng is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Currently, he is leading a research team that specializes in computer vision and machine learning; where his team has published more than 100 papers in top peer-review [i.e. CCF A or CORE A*/A] conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, IJCAI, etc) and journals (TPAMI, TIP, TMM etc).

From 2020-2022, he was seconded to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) as the Undersecretary for the Division of Data Strategic and Foresight, as well as the Lead of the PICC Unit under COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Scholarly, he received Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) in 2022, Young Scientists Network Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) in 2015 and Hitachi Research Fellowship in 2013. Besides that, he is also a senior member of IEEE, Professional Engineer (BEM) and Chartered Engineer (IET). To date, he has secured more than RM 3M research funding as the Principal Investigator from local and international bodies.

Professor Dr. Eng. Wisnu Jatmiko

Specialization: AI for Robotics and Embedded Systems 

Prof. Dr. Eng. Wisnu Jatmiko, S.T., M.Kom. was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia in 1997, and his Master of Science degree from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia in 2000. In 2007, he received his Doctor of Engineering (Dr. Eng.) degree in Micro-Nano Systems Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan.

He is currently a faculty member at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia, where he has been serving as a full Professor since September 2017. Under his supervision, many of his students have successfully pursued further studies at leading universities worldwide, including The University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, The University of Edinburgh, the University of Minnesota, the National University of Singapore, and others.

From 2008 to 2012 and 2013 to 2017, he served two terms as Research Manager at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia. Subsequently, from 2017 to 2021, he held the position of Head of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Computer Science at the same faculty.

He has also served as the Chair of the IEEE Indonesia Section (2019–2020) and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Professor Mohan Kankanhalli, Director of NUS AI Institute, currently holds the distinguished position of Provost’s Chair Professor of Computer Science. He is also the Deputy Executive Chairman (Talent and Ecosystem) of AI Singapore, which is Singapore's national AI R&D program. He was formerly the Dean of NUS School of Computing during 2016-2022. Before becoming the Dean, he was the NUS Vice Provost (Graduate Education) during 2014-2016 and Associate Provost (Graduate Education) during 2011-2013. Earlier, he was the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs & Graduate Studies at the NUS School of Computing during 2008-2010 and Vice-Dean for Research during 2001-2007. Prof Kankanhalli’s research interests are in Multimodal Computing, Computer Vision and Trustworthy AI. He has made fundamental contributions in the areas of image and video understanding, visual saliency and trustworthy AI. He is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Multimedia magazine. He is on the editorial boards of Springer Multimedia Systems and Springer Journal on Big Data. Prof. Kankanhalli was a member of World Economic Forum's 2023-2024 Global Future Council on the Future of Artificial Intelligence. He is a member of ACM’s Global Technology Policy Council.
