ABOUT US

The International Conference on Functional Materials and Devices (ICFMD) is a biennial international conference that brings together scientists, researchers, engineers, and industry experts working in the field of advanced materials and device technologies. Since its inception in 2005, ICFMD has served as an important platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge, presentation of new research findings, and the development of collaborative networks in materials science and related technologies.

The inaugural ICFMD conference was organized by Centre for Ionics UM, Department of Physics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia in 2005 and was attended by more than 100 international and local experts. Following its success, the conference has continued to grow and has been held regularly in various locations across Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur (2007, 2022), Terengganu (2010, 2024), Penang (2013), Johor Bahru (2015), and Melaka (2017).

ICFMD focuses on recent developments and emerging trends in functional materials and devices, which play a critical role in advancing modern technologies and supporting sustainable economic growth. The conference provides a dynamic platform for discussing both fundamental research and applied innovations in materials science and engineering.

Through keynote lectures, invited talks, oral presentations, and poster sessions, ICFMD encourages active scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration among participants from academia, research institutions, and industry worldwide. The conference also provides opportunities for early-career researchers to present their work and engage with leading experts in the field.

This year, 9th International Conference on Functional Materials and Devices (ICFMD 2026) will be held at Swiss-Garden Hotel, Melaka, Malaysia from 27 to 30 July 2026 and is expected to attract more than 130 presenters from around the world.

ICFMD continues to play an important role in advancing the field of functional materials and devices by promoting knowledge dissemination, fostering international collaboration, and contributing to the development of innovative materials and technologies for future applications!
