As populations across Southeast Asia age and hospital bed shortages become increasingly common, the need for innovative healthcare delivery has never been more urgent. Hospital-at-Home (HaH)—where patients receive hospital-level care in the comfort of their own homes—offers a transformative solution.
While HaH models have seen success in Western countries, their implementation in the ASEAN region requires a tailored approach that respects our unique healthcare systems, cultures, and legal frameworks. To bridge this gap, the ASEAN Hospital-at-Home Conference 2026 is hosting a dedicated research activity to build a regional consensus on the future of HaH.
We are conducting a formal research study (Medical Research Ethics Committee ID No: 2026130-16282) to gather expert opinions from across the ASEAN region. Proudly funded and supported by the ASEAN Medical Schools Network, this study aims to define how to safely and effectively set up HaH services, ensuring they are both clinically robust and culturally appropriate.
As part of Day 2 of the conference (8 May 2026), we are organizing Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). It will be a highly involved, hands-on session designed to capture the diverse perspectives of healthcare leaders, practitioners, and policymakers.
What to Expect on Day 2 (8 May 2026)
Dual Sessions: Two FGD Sessions conducted mainly in English. Participants may be selected to participate in one or both of the FGD sessions scheduled for the day.
Highly Collaborative: Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and involves intensive, discursive workshopping.
Purposive Selection: To ensure a diverse range of insights, selection will follow a purposive sampling method, prioritizing representation across different countries, professional roles, and healthcare organizations.
Participant Information & Ethics
Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. We are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards:
Privacy First: All data is handled confidentially. We do not record names on discussion sheets, and all digital data is stored on encrypted drives.
Voluntary Withdrawal: Participants may withdraw at any time without any impact on their professional standing or conference attendance.
Impact: While there are no direct personal rewards, your insights will directly influence future healthcare policies and the implementation of HaH models across Southeast Asia.

Important Deadline: To facilitate planning, all submissions must be received by 15 April 2026. Successful candidates for the FGD will receive a separate confirmation email via the contact details provided.
We recognize the high level of interest in these discussions. For those not participating in the FGDs on 8 May, we are running a concurrent, high-value workshop: "Setting up Hospital-at-Home and Designing Pathways." This session provides a practical roadmap for implementation, ensuring every conference attendee leaves with actionable knowledge.
