Professor Barry O’Sullivan, OBE
Head of Assessment Research & Development, British Council, United Kingdom
Professor Barry O’Sullivan is an internationally renowned expert in language testing and educational assessment. As the Head of Assessment Research & Development at the British Council, he led the design and development of the globally recognised Aptis test service. With over 25 years of experience, he has contributed extensively to assessment policy, test validation, and socio-cognitive models of language assessment. Professor O’Sullivan has published more than 100 scholarly works and has advised ministries, institutions, and educational bodies worldwide. He was awarded an OBE in 2019 for his outstanding contribution to English language testing.
