GUIDELINES FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACT PREPARATION

This article serves as the template for an extended abstract for all papers submitted to the International Webinar Conference of Universiti Malaya Academia Community Engagement 2021 (UMACE 2021). All extended abstracts will be peer reviewed by our panels. Please use this template when preparing the extended abstract. This will ensure a uniform format in the publication. 

Format of the Extended Abstract

  1. The extended abstracts should be prepared in Microsoft Word and written in English (US or UK English, but not a mixture of the two). 

  2. The two-pages extended abstract (permissible to a maximum of three-pages) should include:

    1. Title: Please provide a descriptive title of the paper. The title should be concise and not more than 2 lines. Use Arial with a font size of 14 pts and in boldface for the title.

    2. Author(s) and Affiliation(s): Include name of author(s) in full which include the first name, middle initial and surnames. The name of the corresponding author should be underlined and asterisked. The affiliations of all the authors should be included (a full address is not allowed).

    3. E-mail: The email address of the Corresponding Author.

    4. Abstract: Use Arial font with a font size of 10 pts for the abstract. The main text should be justified on both sides.

    5. Keywords: Maximum 5 keywords and separated by semicolons.

    6. Tables: The tables should be numbered and captioned with font size of 10  pts (do not use short form for table captions). As a guideline, the extended abstract should not contain more than 2 tables.  Please make sure that a table is not separated in two separate pages. 

    7. Figures: The figures should be numbered and captioned with font size of 10 pts.

    8. Equations: The equations should be indented to the main text and the numbers displayed on the right side in parenthesis. Example;   E = mc2       (1)

    9. Acknowledgements: Any acknowledgements can be included at the end of the main body of the extended abstract but before the references.

    10. References: References should be listed in alphabetical order and follow the APA referencing style. Maximum 10 references. 

  3. Throughout the extended abstract, use Arial font with single spacing between lines. The recommended font size is 14 pts for the paper title and 11 pts elsewhere. The main text should be justified on both sides. 

  4. Word count of approximately 1000 - 2500 words. Please refer to the following sample of extended abstract as your guideline
