The International Learning Improvement and Teaching Enhancement Conference (LITEC), 25th to 27th August 2020 based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia offers a platform for educators, researchers, and scholars to share intriguing research findings, best practices and innovative ideas in teaching and learning (T&L).

This is an annual conference held by Academic Enhancement and Leadership Development Centre (ADeC), Universiti Malaya in conjunction with our UM Learning Improvement and Teaching Enhancement Research (UM-LITER) Grant.

The UM-LITER aims to provide UM lecturers with funding to conduct research on improving and enhancing Learning and Teaching practices in their own classrooms, courses, and/or programs. UM-LITER was developed to be able to help UM academician to improve their students' learning capacity and/or their teaching effectiveness, or simply provide some mentorship and guidance in managing a Teaching and Learning (T&L) research project.

For those who opting for the Teaching Track in UM’s newly launched Standard Academic Performance Target (SAPT), T&L research will be vital for future promotions in the Teaching Track. Nevertheless, this grant is not limited to those interested in Teaching Track only, as good Teaching & Learning practice is crucial for all academic staffs, for the benefit of our students. UM-LITER aims not only to provide research funding and mentorship, but also to facilitate connections amongst UM lecturers who are passionate about T&L, and to invite them to be part of a community of practice in which members support one another in their shared quest to offer effective and meaningful T&L experiences to our students.

For 2019/2020, we are bringing the theme “PERSONALISED LEARNING” ,  an educational approach that aims to customize learning for each student's strengths, needs, skills and interests. In 2019, 28 successful applicants has been granted UM-LITER to embark their T&L research in Personalised Learning.
