Welcome to SCS2019!

The South China Sea Conference (SCS) which is also known as the Conference for Regional Cooperation in Ocean and Earth Science Research in the South China Sea flagged off in the year 2008 at Kuantan, Pahang with the theme of “Sustaining Ocean Productivities, Maritime Communities and the Climate” in conjunction to the International Year of Planet Earth. The second SCS was held in 2012 with the aim of “Sharing Knowledge, Resources and Technologies for a sustainable South China Sea”.

The SCS is intended to serve as a platform for the exchange of information related to research activities in the South China Seas and to promote international cooperation among marine scientists of the world. This conference, the pet event of the Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences (IOES) and forms a vital part of marine research activities in facilitating the exchange of current research; enabling scientists, technologists and people interested in marine sciences to gather and to present their latest findings and learn from one another. This gathering enables development of new collaborative relationships and research partnerships to create opportunities for students and emerging scientists to present their work, exchange views, and gather current information in their respective field of expertise.

The theme of the upcoming SCS 2019 forum which will be held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur is Sea, Science & Societies: Forging Alliances in Facing Global Environmental Change. On behalf of the local organising committee, we would like to warmly invite you to attend the 3rd SCS and we look forward to your submission of abstract.

Sincerely,
Local Organising Committee
