Plenary Lecture

Tri Budi Wahyuni Rahardjo

Prof. Dr. Tri Budi is a distinguished academic and expert in gerontology, holding a DDS from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia, an MSc from the University of Airlangga, and a PhD from the University of Airlangga, Surabaya, with a Sandwich PhD program at the University of Wales, UK. She is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing and a professor at the University of Indonesia, as well as other institutions. She collaborates with Loughborough University, serves on the Active Ageing Consortium Asia Pacific Steering Board, and advises organizations such as WHO SEARO, WHO Geneva, and the Indonesian Ministry of Health on aging-related issues. Additionally, she is involved with the Indonesian Gerodontology Association and the Centre for Family and Ageing Study (URINDO), contributing significantly to research and policy development in aging and health.

Lecture Topic: Population Ageing and The Impact on Dental Profession.

As global populations age, the demand for specialized geriatric dental care continues to rise, presenting new challenges and opportunities for the dental profession. This lecture explores the evolving landscape of geriatric dentistry. Prof. Tri Budi’s expertise includes lecturing on Prosthodontics and Gerodontology at the Prosthodontic Department, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia, and teaching research methodology for master’s and doctoral programs at the UI, with a focus on Medical Gerontology. Additionally, she supervises PhD students across multiple institutions, including IPB, ANU, and Loughborough University, contributing to the advancement of geriatric dental research. Beyond academia, the lecture will also highlight experiences in Geriatric Services within the Hospital Administration Study Program at the University of Respati Indonesia, as well as thesis supervision on critical ageing-related issues. This session will provide valuable insights into the intersection of ageing populations and dentistry, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based practices, and innovative solutions to address the oral health needs of the elderly.
