Lecture Topic: Considerations in Geriatric Prosthodontic Therapy

This lecture highlights key considerations in geriatric prosthodontic therapy, addressing challenges such as reduced salivary flow, neuromuscular decline, systemic conditions, and cognitive impairments. Successful rehabilitation requires thorough assessment, patient-centered treatment planning, and the use of minimally invasive techniques with biocompatible materials. Special focus is given to dentures, implant-supported prostheses, and overdentures, ensuring adaptability to aging-related changes. Collaboration with caregivers and healthcare providers is emphasized for long-term success. Ethical concerns, financial barriers, and patient compliance are also discussed. This session equips dental professionals with evidence-based strategies to enhance prosthodontic care and improve the quality of life for elderly patients.
