What is the Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN)?

The Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN) is a regional platform established in 2007 by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) to strengthen cooperation in astronomical research, education, and public outreach among Southeast Asian countries.


When and where will the conference be held?

The 16th SEAAN Meeting will take place from 16–19 November 2026 at:

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia


Who is organising the conference?

The conference is jointly organised by:

  • Planetarium Negara, Malaysia

  • National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT)

Registration

Who can participate?

The conference welcomes:

Both presenters and non-presenters are encouraged to attend.

Registration opens on 1 August 2026.


When is the registration deadline?

The registration deadline is 15 October 2026.


How do I register?

Participants can register online through the official SEAAN 2026 website by completing the registration form and following the payment instructions.


What are the registration fees?

Current registration fees are:

Presenter (oral/poster) RM350
Participant (non-presenter) RM300
Student Participant (non-presenter) RM250
Online Participant (non-presenter) RM50

Abstract Submission

Who can submit an abstract?

Researchers, academics, professionals, and students wishing to present oral or poster presentations are invited to submit abstracts.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

Yes. Participants may submit multiple abstracts, subject to review and acceptance by the Scientific Organising Committee.


Presentation

What presentation formats are available?

The conference will include:

  • Oral Presentations

  • Poster Presentations

  • Invited Talks

  • Keynote Lectures

Presentation guidelines will be provided after acceptance.


What language will be used?

The official language of the conference is English.


Venue

Where is Planetarium Negara located?

Planetarium Negara is located within the Perdana Botanical Gardens, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, close to KL Sentral and many major tourist attractions.


How do I get there?

Participants can reach the venue via:

  • Taxi

  • Grab (ride-hailing)

  • MRT

  • KTM Komuter

  • KL Sentral transportation hub

Accommodation

Does the conference provide accommodation?

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee.

Participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.

A list of recommended hotels will be available on the Venue page.


Payment

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment methods will be announced on the Registration page and may include:

  • Online Banking (FPX)

  • Credit/Debit Card

  • Bank Transfer

  • Institutional Purchase Order (where applicable)


Can I receive an official receipt?

Yes.

Official payment receipts will be issued after payment has been successfully verified.


Visa Information

Do I need a visa to enter Malaysia?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality.

Participants are advised to check with the nearest Malaysian Embassy or High Commission before travelling.


Can the organisers provide an invitation letter?

Yes.

Official invitation letters will be provided to registered participants upon request for any official including visa application purposes.


Certificates

Will participants receive a certificate?

Yes.

All registered participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Presenters will also receive a Certificate of Presentation where applicable.


Internet & Facilities

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes.

Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available throughout the conference venue.


Will meals be provided?

Registered participants will receive:

  • Morning refreshments

  • Lunch

  • Afternoon refreshments

as specified in the conference programme.


Photography

Will photographs and videos be taken?

Yes.

Photographs and videos may be taken during the conference for documentation and promotional purposes.

By attending the conference, participants consent to the use of such materials by the organisers unless otherwise requested.


Cancellation & Refund

Can I cancel my registration?

Yes.

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the Local Organising Committee.

Refund policies will be published on the Registration page.


Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Registration transfers may be permitted before the registration deadline, subject to approval by the organisers.
