Organising Committee of the 16th Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN) Meeting 2026

The success of the 16th Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN) Meeting 2026 is made possible through the dedication and collaboration of distinguished astronomers, researchers, educators, and professionals from across Southeast Asia.

The conference is jointly organised by Universiti Malaya, Planetarium Negara, and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), with the support of the Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN).

The Organising Committee is committed to delivering a high-quality scientific meeting that promotes excellence in research, strengthens regional partnerships, and provides an engaging experience for all participants.


Conference Hosts

Universiti Malaya (UM)

Universiti Malaya is Malaysia's oldest university and one of the region's leading research institutions. Through its commitment to scientific excellence, interdisciplinary research, and international collaboration, Universiti Malaya plays an active role in advancing astronomy, astrophysics, and Islamic astronomy (Falak) within Southeast Asia.


Planetarium Negara

As the co-host of SEAAN 20206, Planetarium Negara is Malaysia's national centre for astronomy education and public engagement. It provides modern facilities for scientific exhibitions, outreach programmes, conferences, and educational activities while promoting astronomy and space science to the wider community.


National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT)

Another co-host of SEAAN 2026, NARIT is a leading astronomical research institution in Southeast Asia and the founding organisation of the Southeast Asia Astronomy Network (SEAAN). Since establishing SEAAN in 2007, NARIT has played a pivotal role in fostering regional collaboration, scientific exchange, and astronomy education throughout the region.


Scientific Organising Committee (SOC)

The Scientific Organising Committee is responsible for developing the scientific programme, coordinating abstract reviews, selecting invited speakers, and maintaining the conference's academic quality.
