Emeritus Professor and Designated Professor at Nagoya University, formal Director of the Center for Low-temperature Plasma Sciences (cLPS)

He received numerous award for his contribution towards the development of applied plasma science and engineering, including K-T Rie Award (2019), Nishizawa Award (2021), Government of Japan Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon (2022), JSAP Outstanding Achievement Award (2023). In this year, ISPlasma has established the Masaru Hori Prize as a new prize for promising young researchers who are active in plasma-related research. His is the pioneering scientist on radical controlled plasma processes.

He has been a visiting scholar at the the Ioffe Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Fusion Research Institute of Japan. He hold numerous patents with his innovation and development of plasma application. His active engagement in research and expertise in various types of discharge plasmas have made him the consultants to many industries.

Emeritus Professor and the Chair Professor in National Tsing Hua University

He was the president for the Taiwanese Association for Coating Technolog. His work in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Tsing Hua University include the employment of plasma technology in the exploration of improved energy material development. He is the Co-Editor in Chief of Materials Chemistry and Physics.

He started the conference series of ICPSA in 2008 in Malaysia, made research collaboration fruitful through scientific exchange, and untiredly provide mentorship to researchers and scholars. He is the Senior Fellow at Fuse Energy Technologies, Canada and Adjunt Professor for INTI International University, Malaysia.

He is the Dean of Research Infrastructure at James Cook University. His research focuses on sustainable materials and waste conversion technologies, he specializes in microwave assisted pyrolysis and graphene synthesis.

He previously served as the Director of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) at Kathmandu University. His research focuses on plasma surface modification of polymers, plasma diagnostics, and thin film deposition.

He has been researcher in the department of physics, Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, Damascus. And in 2005, He became Professor in Plasma Physics, Head of Plasma division for some times, His scientific interests are: Plasma Focus, Low temperature plasma, Dielectric Barrier Discharge, Capacitive radio-frequency discharges and their applications.
